If only you knew

If only you knew,
That running is not true;
That I have embraced you, with all that is me;
That I have embraced you, with more than what I knew-
If only you knew......

If only you had a little time
If only you could afford to stand and assimilate
If only you could give it some time;
If only your life didnt seem like a roller coaster ride
If only you were not on an ever spinning emergency
Maybe you would have known; what could have been shared
All that could be ours
The moments that could have been spent; without any pretention-
The moments that could have been just yours and mine

But I guess it was never meant to be
The never ending wait for my unknown lover...

  1. the phone rang
    we talked
    or at least you say
    we talked
    it felt like
    a few more pennies
    flung in hope
    down the maw
    of a blind wishing well
    waiting, waiting
    waiting for the tinkle
    of round hot metal
    coated with the sweat
    of drying hopes
    striking bedrock
    or the faint splash
    of pennies landing
    into the puddle
    somewhere far below
    the sound never comes
    I'm too far perhaps
    or perhaps the well
    has lost it's bottom
    waiting, waiting
    hoping and waiting
    for wishes to come true
    gently breathing
    superstition
    and hyperventilating
    waiting for you
    to defy logic, science
    norm, observation, experience
    enervating waiting
    knowing full well
    your boss must've called
    you're fighting
    yet another fire
    oblivious to the void
    and the fact
    that behind your
    firefighting equipments
    the home you built
    is burning to the ground
    that when you've wiped
    the last grubby face
    and received
    the just accolade
    when you turn for home
    there is no home
    to come home too
    never mind..........
